Cookie Policy

This policy explains how fitweb uses cookies. We use a session cookie to keep platform users signed in, and analytics and advertising cookies on our marketing site to understand how visitors use it and to measure our own advertising. It also covers the websites we host for members, which by default set no cookies at all.

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file stored in your browser by a website. Cookies are used for many purposes: keeping you logged in, remembering preferences, tracking behaviour across sites, and serving targeted advertising.

Cookies we use

The fw_session cookie is set only when you sign in to app.fitweb.io. The _ga cookies are set when you visit the marketing site at fitweb.io.

If you are in the UK or Europe

Visitors from the UK, the European Economic Area and Switzerland are asked before any analytics or advertising cookie is set. The Google Analytics and Meta cookies described above start in a denied state, and a banner appears asking you to accept or reject. If you reject, or simply ignore the banner, no analytics or advertising cookies are stored and no data is used to identify you.

You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer.

Visitors elsewhere, including New Zealand, are not shown a banner and the cookies described above are set normally.

Cookies on a member's website

fitweb hosts websites for exercise professionals, at addresses like theirname.fitweb.io or on their own domain. By default those websites set no cookies at all. Visits are counted on our server, which needs nothing stored in your browser, so most member websites show no cookie banner and track nothing.

A member may choose to connect their own Google Analytics property or Meta (Facebook) pixel to their website, to understand where their visitors come from and whether their advertising is working. Where a member has done that:

If you are visiting from the UK, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, a cookie banner appears and nothing is sent to Google or Meta unless you accept it. If you decline, no analytics or advertising cookies are set and no data is shared. Visitors elsewhere, including New Zealand, are not shown a banner and the member's chosen cookies are set normally.
If you accept, Google Analytics may set _ga and _ga_<id> cookies (up to 2 years), and the Meta pixel may set an _fbp cookie (around 3 months). These are used to measure visits and, in Meta's case, to measure and target advertising.
Your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage under fw_consent_v1. You can change it at any time using the Cookie settings link in that website's footer.
The member decides whether to switch this on and is responsible for how they use the resulting data. The data is collected by Google or Meta under their own privacy policies, not by fitweb.

What we don't use

On app.fitweb.io, the platform itself, the only cookie is the strictly-necessary sign-in cookie. No analytics or advertising cookies are set while you are signed in and using your dashboard.

Anywhere across fitweb, we do not:

Sell your personal information, or share it with data brokers
Store your name, email address or other contact details in a cookie

The marketing site at fitweb.io does set analytics and advertising cookies, as listed in the table above. On an individual member's website, analytics and advertising cookies appear only where that member has connected their own account, and only after you have accepted the banner.

Third-party cookies

Some of fitweb's service providers may set their own cookies:

Google Analytics: sets _ga cookies on fitweb.io to help us understand site traffic. Data is processed by Google. Google Privacy Policy.
Meta (Facebook): sets an _fbp cookie on fitweb.io and receives information about your visit, which we use to measure and target fitweb's own advertising on Facebook and Instagram. Data is processed by Meta. Meta Privacy Policy.
Cloudflare: may set cookies as part of its security and performance infrastructure.
Stripe: sets cookies during the payment process to prevent fraud.

These are governed by the respective providers' privacy policies and are outside fitweb's direct control.

Managing cookies

You can clear or block cookies through your browser settings at any time. If you delete the fw_session cookie, you will be signed out of the fitweb platform. If you block the _ga or _fbp cookies, the marketing site will still work normally; we just won't receive analytics data for your visit, and we won't be able to measure whether our advertising reached you.

Changes to this policy

If we introduce new cookies, we will update this policy. We will notify platform users by email of any significant changes.
